Hospital Medicine and Health Systems Pathway During your second year of residency you can elect into this pathway for your third year of residency. The goal is to experience what it is like to be a hospitalist, providing high-value, evidence-based care to a cadre of medical inpatients on their “own” while preforming the other duties of a Direct-Care Hospitalist (supervising Advanced Practice Providers). There is a didactic and experiential part of this as well that includes participation in hospital wide committees, exposure to some of the leaders in hospital medicine, and a longitudinal scholarly project preferentially in quality improvement.
