Multiple Versions of Adobe Acrobat or Reader

Having multiple versions of Adobe Reader installed on the same system can cause plug-in conflicts.

Microsoft Edge

  • Microsoft Edge has a built-in PDF viewer enabled by default, which opens the file directly in your browser window. To disable the built-in viewer, enter edge://settings/content/pdfDocuments?search=pdf in the address bar and enable "Always open PDF files externally".

Google Chrome Browser

  • Google Chrome has a built-in PDF viewer enabled by default, which opens the file directly in your browser window. To disable the built-in viewer, enter chrome://settings/content/pdfDocuments?search=pdf in the address bar and enable "Download PDFs".

Mozilla Firefox Browser

Other Solutions

  • Disable Display PDF in Browser and Fast Web View
    • Close all browsers. Open Adobe Reader. Choose Edit>Preferences>Internet. In the ‘Web Browser Options’ section, uncheck ‘Display PDF in browser’ and uncheck ‘Allow Fast Web View’.  Click ‘OK’ to confirm the change.

  • Download and Install the latest version of Adobe Reader.

Mobile Devices

Mobile devices do not support XFA-based PDF forms. XFA-based PDF forms allow users to fill-in and save PDF forms locally. Please use your desktop/laptop to download the file directly to your local drive and open the file using Adobe Reader.
