The Einstein Graduate Programs hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year. See below for more details on all of the special events supported by the Graduate Division.
Milestone Events
First year graduate students complete laboratory rotations before selecting their thesis lab. These rotations allow students to explore their particular research interests while taking advantage of the breadth of science available to them. The laboratory they choose is where they will do their thesis research for the remainder of their graduate career. The Declaration Celebration ceremony officially welcomes the first year class into their labs and celebrates the start of their thesis work.
A reception honoring the recent, successful completion of our graduate student qualifying exams and the receipt of the M.S. degree.
Graduate Reception
The annual celebration for all of our recent graduates, faculty, graduate students and staff. The event honors the year's graduates, and the recipients of the LaDonne Schulman Teaching Award and the Student Service Award.
A commencement ceremony is held each year, in celebration of the accomplishments of the Einstein graduate students. Graduate students who meet all requirements can be recommended for the Doctor of Philosophy degree. This includes the successful completion of all graduate course requirements, the graduate thesis document, and presentation, which describes the original research carried out by the student in the laboratory.
Research Symposiums & Presentations
This annual research symposium, hosted by the Einstein Graduate Division, is the premiere Graduate Program event of the year, highlighting the research and contributions of our graduate students.

In memory of David J Heslin, PhD '09, who lost his battle with cancer. Dave cared deeply about the development of young scientists. The symposium will combine career development with exciting science.
This two-day event is held each year during the month of September. The faculty research poster sessions are an opportunity for first-year graduate students to meet faculty and their fellow graduate students and discuss research.
SURP & High School Summer Program Poster Session
A summer of scientific research culminates in an afternoon of poster presentations by the Einstein SURP & High School Summer Program participants.
Orientations
The Einstein Graduate Division extends a warm welcome to the incoming PhD students. This extensive orientation is designed to acclimate PhD students to the Einstein community, and prepare them for the breadth of scientific research they will encounter.
