Information for E-M High School Summer Participants

Participant Checklist (complete prior to starting the program)

Complete Permission Forms

All participants will need to completely fill-out and return permissions forms. The signed and completed forms can be returned via email. These forms will be emailed to you prior to the program start date. Participants must complete and return signed permission forms in order to enroll in the program. 

Complete Medical Forms

Health clearance forms are sent to you by email. Please refer to the full medical check list for information on how to complete the health clearance forms. Important: Medical forms must be completed and returned directly to the Einstein Occupational Heath Office by the date indicated on the health forms.

The health clearance forms MUST be completed and submitted prior to the start of the program. Please note: you will be unable to begin the program unless the forms are complete. Please do not send medical forms to the Graduate Office.

Onboarding

All participants are required to complete an HR onboarding. Information regarding the HR onboarding requirements will be emailed to program participants. All HR requirements must be completed prior to enrolling in the program.

Complete Online CITI Training

Prior to your arrival you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete the online CITI training modules. Instructions and log-in information will be sent in mid-May. The online modules must be completed prior to your arrival for the program. The training can be completed in a few hours.
 

 

Orientation

The program orientation is June 30, 2022. Orientation is designed to acclimate you to the Einstein campus, of which you will be a part for the duration of the program. You will receive the full program calendar on orientation day. During orientation you will:

  • Meet with the Program Directors to review the program training goals for the summer
  • Learn about leading-edge research of Einstein's Principal Investigators & graduate students
  • Participate in training activities, which will allow you to fully participate in a research laboratory

On orientation day continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. After lunch, E-M HS students will go to their assigned laboratory. You will receive further information about your mentor and laboratory at orientation

 

Program Activities

You will be expected to be in the laboratory every day from approximately 9 a.m. - 5 or 6 p.m. Your attendance will also be required at all the special activities, including faculty seminars. There are no holidays or days off during the summer program, with the exception of July 4. If this full-time schedule does not work well with your plans or your family's plans for the summer, please let us know immediately and you can withdraw your application for this summer and re-apply for next summer.

 

Getting to Einstein

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is situated in a residential community consisting of one and two family homes. Students are responsible for daily transportation to and from the Einstein campus. Housing is not available for this program.

 

Transportation

The Einstein Campus is easily accessible via public transportation:

  • The 2 or 5 train at East 180 ST
  • The 6 train at Westchester Square
  • The BxM10 express bus at Morris Park Avenue
