It is with profound sadness that we share that Nancy Dubler, the founder of our program, passed away on 4/14/2024. The Montefiore Einstein Center for Bioethics is deeply indebted to her enormous contributions to our Center and the field of Bioethics. Professor Dubler founded and directed the Bioethics Consultation Service at Montefiore Medical Center (1978-2008) as a support for analysis of difficult clinical cases presenting ethical issues in the health care setting. She co-founded the Certificate Program in Bioethics and the Medical Humanities, along with the late David Rothman. Her book Bioethics Mediation, written with Carol Liebman, remains the definitive work in the field. She was a generous colleague, mentor and friend. We are honored to continue our work in the spirit of her dedication to compassion and excellence.
