From the Chair

Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Montefiore -Einstein. Our Department has been centered on providing comprehensive health care for the women in our community since 1955. The spectrum of specialty care follows our patients’ every need: from adolescent and family planning, to pre-conception genetics screening and infertility treatments, normal and high risk obstetrics including diagnostic and targeted ultrasounds, surgical treatment for both benign and cancer conditions, incontinence and menopause therapies and at times, unfortunately, end of life care. Our faculty and staff provide clinical care at our Montefiore outpatient sites and hospitals throughout the Bronx and Westchester communities.

We are fully committed to educating the next generation of health care professionals through our medical student clerkship, residency and specialty fellowship programs. We currently have seven subspecialty fellowship programs and one of the largest residency programs in the country. A culture of learning and teaching is prevalent throughout the department.

Our research has followed our scope of specialty care to include basic science and translational research from the field of pregnancy loss to cancer clinical trials aimed at improving quality of life. Our future research is now focused on quality and safety improvement in how we deliver our care to patients.

Our dedication to provide patient centered care along with our commitment to education and research aligns with our mission to provide comprehensive women’s health care to improve the health outcomes for the diverse population of women we serve in the community.
