Dr. Cunningham

Mentoring Researchers — The National Institute on Drug Abuse has awarded Dr. Chinazo Cunningham a $1 million grant over five years, which will support the development of mentorship approaches for training junior clinical investigators—particularly women and minorities—in conducting patient-oriented research related to drug abuse and/or HIV infection. Through the program, trainees will be provided with the skills and infrastructure for becoming independent investigators. Dr. Cunningham’s long-term goal is to improve health outcomes for drug users with, or at risk for, HIV infection. Dr. Cunningham is associate professor of medicine and of family and social medicine. She also is associate chief of the division of general internal medicine, director of the General Internal Medicine Fellowship Program, and director of diversity affairs for the department of medicine.
