David Hall

Roundworm Anatomy — The National Institutes of Health has awarded Dr. David Hall a $2.7 million, four-year renewal grant to support Einstein’s Center for Caenorhabditis elegans Anatomy. Study of the C. elegans (roundworm) genome and anatomy has provided valuable insights into the function of human genes. The Einstein center is staffed by Dr. Hall and colleagues, who have uncovered basic mechanisms governing roundworm brain development and have identified genes involved in aging, kidney function and cell death.  The center shares detailed anatomical information with other roundworm researchers worldwide and publishes annotated images on two websites—WormAtlas and WormImage— as well as in the C. elegans Atlas. Dr. Hall is professor in the Dominick P. Purpura Department of Neuroscience.
