Assessment of Hispanic DietIn a landmark study: Study of Latinos: Nutrition & Physical Activity Assessment Study (SOLNAS), Dr. Yasmin Mossavar-Rahmani and colleagues used biomarkers to assess diets of US Hispanics. The researchers found that both men and women severely under-reported their energy and protein intakes. The study is important because inaccurate reporting of these nutrients can mask the relationship between diet and disease. Findings from this study will be used to improve measures of dietary intake. The researchers report their findings in the May 20, 2015 issue of the American Journal of EpidemiologyDr. Mossavar-Rahmani specializes in nutrition assessment and intervention, and is associate professor of clinical epidemiology & population health. SOLNAS is an ancillary study of the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos and is supported by the National Institutes of Health; Einstein is one of four study sites, in the Bronx, Miami, Chicago and San Diego.
