Managing Migraines

Migraines are prevalent and disabling, involving severe, throbbing pain, nausea and sensitivity to light and sound. Patients often have trouble adhering with treatment recommendations, which may require making complex decisions while in the throes of a migraine. Elizabeth Seng, Ph.D., has received a five-year grant totaling $965,385 from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke to study patient adherence to migraine management strategies. Dr. Seng will evaluate factors that influence patient adherence to migraine management strategies. She will also develop a new phone app to help patients improve their decision making around managing migraines. Dr. Seng is assistant professor of in the Saul R. Korey Department of Neurology.
