AARP Bulletin interviews Amy Ehrlich, M.D., about individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia who wander from their homes. Dr. Ehrlich explains that it is difficult to control wandering, which occurs when people start losing sense of time and place. She notes that there is no medication to manage the behavior and it's hard to keep track of someone who is physically able and motivated to leave. Dr. Ehrlich is associate professor of clinical medicine.
