The Saul R. Korey Department of Neurology

Weiler

Weiler Large

The Weiler / Einstein Division is a major teaching site for the neurology residency program. The nearly 400-bed hospital is located in the Morris Park neighborhood in the eastern Bronx, adjacent to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Jacobi Medical Center campuses.

At this site, residents rotate on busy neurology inpatient and consultative services, encountering patients with diverse backgrounds and complex neurological problems. These services are augmented by subspecialty neurology coverage. The hospital is a NY State Department of Health certified stroke center, and neurophysiological monitoring including long-term CCTV-EEG and intraoperative evoked potentials are provided by our department.

In addition, the Weiler / Einstein Division serves as the site for patient admissions for intractable headache diagnostics and management by our Montefiore Headache Center , which is located across the street in Montefiore Medical Park. Residents gain experience in evaluating and treating the intractable headache patient with a variety of medications and procedures, and interact directly with fellows and division faculty in managing these patients.

Here, residents interact with a large emergency department and numerous busy inpatient medical and surgical services, as well as cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, critical care units, labor and delivery, oncology, and the inpatient rehabilitation unit.

Dr. Matthew Robbins is the Chief of Service and Site Director for resident education at the Weiler / Einstein Division.
