The three-year Wakefield residency, known for its strongly committed, seasoned faculty; accommodating, user-friendly learning environment; and innovative performance improvement initiatives, has historically drawn highly qualified applicants from around the world, and the program's numbers have risen significantly throughout the years, particularly since Montefiore acquired the former Our Lady of Mercy in 2008.

"We are truly excited to welcome our new class of physicians-in-training this coming July," said Dr. Grace Kajita, Program Director of the Wakefield residency. "With their wealth of different cultural perspectives and educational backgrounds, these doctors are integral in helping to care for our increasingly diverse patient population."
