May 2, 2012 - Michael Bernard Stemerman, MD Dr. Michael Stemerman has left the position of Interim Director of the Division of Hematology to continue teaching and clinical service.
Dr. Stemerman is Clinical Professor of Medicine (Hematology). His research examines the hypothesis that low-density lipoprotein (LDL) alters the function of the vascular endothelium and this alteration may be an important mechanism for the development of atherosclerosis.
Effective May 1, 2012, Dr. Henny Billett assumed leadership as the new Chief of the Division of Hematology.
"I would like to thank Mike for all that he has done as a leader for the Division and for the Department," said Dr. Victor Schuster, Chairman of the Department of Medicine. "He has led the Division with good humor, hard work, and sincerity, and we look forward to his continued strong contributions in teaching and clinical medicine.
