Professional Interests

Dr. Elina Jershow at SuperDoctorsDr. Elina Jerschow is a Professor of Medicine (Allergy and Immunology) and an attending physician for pediatric and adult allergy and immunology at Montefiore Einstein. 

After completing her fellowship, Dr. Jerschow joined Merck & Co., Inc. as an associate director in the Department of Clinical Immunology. During the work at Merck, her main research focused on the evaluation of adverse drug reactions in study participants and on developing new therapeutic targets in the area of immunology.

After returning to the Montefiore Einstein Department of Medicine, Dr. Jerschow established a Center for AERD and Drug Allergy. She is providing continuous care to patients with AERD and allergies to medications. She has also been selected as New York Times Super Doctor and NY Top Doctor for several years.

A Runner Suddenly Developed Asthma. It Was Stranger Than It Seemed.

Elina Jerschow, M.D., M.S., who studies adverse reactions to medications, diagnosed a patient with aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD) after the patient suffered a severe asthma attack and developed a severe reaction to select pain medications.  Dr. Jerschow is associate professor of medicine and of microbiology & immunology at Einstein and director of the Montefiore AERD and Drug Allergy Center.

The New York Times features new research by Dr. Elina Jerschow that found medications are the cause of most fatal allergic reactions.
