Montefiore Einstein Department of Medicine

Physicians Awards Ceremony

On Wednesday, June 14, 2017, four outstanding physicians were honored for their unique contributions to the medical profession at the Second Annual Department of Medicine Physician Awards Ceremony, held at an afternoon cocktail ceremony in Montefiore's Grand Hall.

Over 100 colleagues, friends, and family members gathered to celebrate the award winners in four categories: Robert Forman, MD (Distinguished Clinician); Joseph DeLuca, MD (Citizenship); Golda Hudes, MD (Humanism); and Priya Nori, MD, (Rising Star).

The Physician Awards were created to provide recognition for some of the many talented and dedicated physicians in the Department of Medicine. The Awards Committee chose the winners from among a group of highly qualified physicians in each category, who were nominated for consideration by their peers. This year’s Physician Awards Committee included: Rosemarie Conigliaro, MD; Elizabeth Kitsis, MD; Liise-anne Pirofski, MD; Andrea Porrovecchio, MD; Amanda Raff, MD; Jeffrey Weiss, MD, and Joel Zonszein.MD.

"This is a significant award and a great opportunity to recognize our colleagues," said Department of Medicine Chairman Yaron Tomer, MD, in his opening remarks. "It shows us the camaraderie and family-like atmosphere that we have here at Montefiore Einstein."

"What really makes the Department of Medicine so special is the people who are in it," said Dr. Elizabeth Kitsis, Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs & Professionalism, Department of Medicine. "This moment is really an opportunity to recognize all of the physicians in the department who give of themselves, daily, selflessly, and graciously. Today we want to say thank you and we really appreciate everything you do.”

A special thank you goes to Jack Keller Silvers, 15, for his lovely piano accompaniment and Shani Sanders, Administrative Coordinator, for planning and organizing the Physician Awards nomination process and adding her special touch to the successful event.
