Diabetes Prevention and Control The Diabetes Prevention and Control Core provides access to faculty expertise in clinical diabetes research, behavioral intervention and evaluation research, social and environmental research, epidemiology and biostatistics. The core is comprised of the Behavioral Intervention and Evaluation Methodology, Einstein Social-Environmental Research Methodology, and Clinical Research Methodology sub-cores. It builds bridges from basic science and clinical research to epidemiology and translational research. The core emphasizes dissemination and sustainability through its community engagement, focusing on primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of diabetes and obesity in underserved minority populations. Reducing health disparities is a main theme of our efforts, and this has been facilitated through many collaborations with other academic institutions, community leaders and researchers across the United States. Services Access the Services BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION AND EVALUATION METHODOLOGY SUB-CORE (BIEM) Uses behavioral epidemiology to identify and prioritize intervention goals and leverages varied communication channels for intervention research Develops tailored approaches to meet the needs of culturally diverse, hard-to-reach, high-risk individuals, families and communities Uses qualitative and quantitative assessments in intervention development and develops/refines process and outcome measures SOCIAL-ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH METHODOLOGY SUB-CORE (SERM) Assesses and builds community capacity and social capital and leverages community structures to enhance health Facilitates methods to assess community collaboration in diabetes-related research Promotes research in quality improvement for the delivery of health services to reduce disparities CLINICAL RESEARCH METHODOLOGY SUB-CORE (CRM) Facilitates diabetes-related clinical and translational research. The CRF provides assistance and consultation to investigators at multiple stages of research design and implementation Enhances opportunities for clinical and translational research collaboration related to prevention and control of diabetes Provides training in research methods specific to diabetes-related investigations Related Shared Facilities no-related-facilities Center Affiliations Diabetes Research Center Selected Publications no-publications Location and Contacts Diabetes Prevention and Control Belfer 705A Elizabeth A.
