Clinical and Translational Investigations The Clinical and Translational Investigation Core (CTIC) of Einstein’s Center for AIDS Research provides a centralized, user-friendly gateway for accessing extensive patient data and specimens across clinical care and research sites. The Core facilitates research through a user-friendly portal to a large database, and stimulates interactions among CFAR investigators to promote translational research, and provides epidemiologic guidance and statistical support. Services Access the Services TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH: Provide advice in study design, statistical support, and facilitation of applications for institutional board review of human subjects protocols Support the design of behavioral studies and interventions by providing expertise in qualitative methods, mixed qualitative and quantitative methods, measurement, and data collection Provide prospective serum and PBMC samples from patients with defined clinical and laboratory characteristics INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH: Assist in designing scientifically rigorous and culturally sensitive studies that can realistically be implemented in geographic locations without local expertise Advise how to meet both local and U.S. IRB requirements for human research Provide expertise for implementing clinical trials or epidemiological studies in cohorts of patients being evaluated and cared for in other countries MENTORING: Provide formal mentoring sessions, led by senior HIV/AIDS investigators and attended by junior clinician investigators and investigators new to HIV/AIDS research in all aspects of grant applications Work closely with Einstein’s NIH K30-funded Clinical Research Training Program to provide a formal mechanism for educating junior clinician investigators in HIV-related clinical research methods Train clinical investigators in accessing Montefiore Medical Center’s sophisticated electronic clinical outcomes database to conduct clinical and health services research Related Shared Facilities no-related-facilities Center Affiliations Einstein-Montefiore Center For AIDS Research (CFAR) Selected Publications AIDS Patient Care STDS, 2008 Oct;22(10):811-6 AIDS, 2007 Mar 30;21(6):785-6 American Journal of Public Health, 2007 Oct;97(10):1758-61 Journal of General Internal Medicine, 2007 Sep;22(9):1325-9 Location and Contacts Clinical and Translational Investigations Montefiore Medical Center Kathryn Anastos, M.D.Scientific Director718-944-3860kanastos@montefiore.orgBarry S.
