Hints for Collaboration

Hints for finding collaborators at Einstein

                   http://www.einsteinmed.org/

  1. There are a number of different web pages which are useful, sometimes with overlapping options.   From most Einstein web pages you can search with a given keyword using the search bar in the upper right corner.   Below is a list of web pages that can help you find potential collaborators.
  1. Einstein Research page:http://www.einsteinmed.org/research/
    • There is a link to the various shared facilities and cores in the upper left corner.
    • In the lower middle under Investigator Resources there are links to pilot funding opportunities, the Innovative Collaboration Tool, and the Reagent and Equipment exchange.
    • The Pilot Funding Opportunities currently has funding for Catalytic Seed Grants supported by the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research with rolling submission and reviewed within 2 – 3 weeks of submission.
    • The Innovative Collaboration Tool takes you to the Einstein Research Profiles page (http://www.experts.scival.com/einstein/ ), which allows you to search via Investigator and Keyword, providing you with a list of researchers who have publications and/or grants relevant to the search term.  There are further links then with more detailed information on those researchers as well as the ability to refine the search.
    • The Reagent and Equipment exchange uses a simple login you can register for which then allow emails to be sent requesting or offering reagents/equipment.
  1. Einstein Collaboration Zone page (http://www.einsteinmed.org/research/collaboration-zone/):
    • There are links to the Research Profiles and Reagent Exchange pages mentioned above
    • There is a link to lists of Rare Disease collaborators
    • There is a link to the SciVal funding search site, which allows you to search for grant opportunities as well as funded grants in a number of countries.
  1. Faculty Interactions Committee (FICOMM) web site (https://www.einsteinmed.org/research/faculty-interaction-committee/).  This document is here as well as other information on upcoming events sponsored by FICOMM such as SEEDs.  SEEDS for Collaboration are monthly brief 5 minute research presentations by three faculty followed by time for conversation along with wine and cheese.
  1. Pubmed (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed) with keyword and either 10461 or 10467.  This will identify papers with corresponding authors who are at Einstein or Montefiore, respectively.
  2. Calendar of Academic Events (http://www.einsteinmed.org/calendars).  It provides a daily listing of advertised seminars, Grand Rounds, and other events.  Upcoming events are also listed on the bottom right of the Einstein home page (http://www.einsteinmed.org/) .  Also on the bottom right of the Einstein home page in the grey section is a Research heading with links to the Collaboration Zone and Scientific Resources (which links to the Shared Facilities web site described below).
  1. Office of Grant Support (https://www.einsteinmed.org/administration/grant-support/ ) can provide information regarding funding opportunities and guidance regarding putting together a grant proposal.
  1. Shared Facilities & Cores web site (http://www.einsteinmed.org/research/shared-facilities/) provides links to the different facilities available with specialized skills and equipment that can collaborate with you on a fee basis.  Also present are a series of links in the upper left corner of that page to other potentially useful information.  In particular, for those writing grants, the Investigator Resources link (http://www.einsteinmed.org/research/shared-facilities/investigator-resources/) provides a very helpful set of Word documents describing each facility that can be put into a grant proposal.

We welcome additional suggestions and ideas for ways to form new collaborations that we can add to this list. Please contact Jeff Segall (jeffrey.segall@einsteinmed.org) with suggestions or corrections.
