NEW YORK (January 20, 2016) – Roman Perez-Soler, M.D., chairman and chief, Department of Oncology, Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care; chief and professor, Division of Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine; and deputy director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Albert Einstein Cancer Center (AECC), has been named to NCI’s Board of Scientific Counselors (BSC) for Clinical Sciences and Epidemiology. The BSC, consisting of distinguished cancer scientists primarily from academia, provides advice to the NCI leadership on all aspects of the Institute’s intramural and extramural research programs.

Dr. Perez-Soler is an internationally recognized thoracic oncologist dedicated to the development of innovative therapies for lung cancer. Over the last three decades, Dr. Perez-Soler has pioneered the development of now widely accepted modalities for treatment of a variety of cancers, including liposomes for the delivery and tumor-targeting of anticancer agents. Dr. Perez-Soler has also championed the use of inhaled interventions as an early strategy for patients at risk of developing lung cancer.
Dr. Perez-Soler will serve on the NCI’s Board of Scientific Counselors through July 31, 2020.
