On Monday, June 3 in Robbins Auditorium, Einstein and Montefiore hosted the third annual Presidential Lecture, which highlights outstanding research being done at the institutions. This year’s honorees were Joan Berman, Ph.D., professor of pathology, of microbiology & immunology and the Irving D. Karpas Chair in Medicine; and Chinazo Cunningham, M.D., M.S., professor and associate chief of general internal medicine, and professor of family and social medicine and of psychiatry and behavioral sciences.

Steven M. Safyer, M.D., president and chief executive officer of Montefiore Medicine, and Gordon F. Tomaselli, M.D., the Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Montefiore Medicine, delivered welcoming and introductory remarks. Presidential Lecture Chair Pamela Stanley, Ph.D., opened the event.

Dr. Berman presented her lecture, “Buprenorphine: A Novel Therapy for HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorders.”

Dr. Cunningham presented her lecture, “Changing the Paradigm: Treatment of Opioid-Use Disorder with Buprenorphine in Primary Care.”
