Dr. Laura Gardner is a psychiatrist with an interest in the inpatient treatment of acute psychotic episodes, acute mood episodes, schizophrenia, and catatonia, as well as treatment of suicidal ideation and the use of electroconvulsive therapy in the treatment of depression, suicidal ideation, catatonia and treatment resistant mood and psychotic symptoms. She is the medical director of the inpatient psychiatric unit of Montefiore Medical Center Moses Hospital (Klau 2) and works closely with the Montefiore Psychiatry Residency Program at Montefiore Medical Center, where she teaches and supervises both medical students and psychiatry residents during their inpatient psychiatry rotations.
Dr. Gardner completed a visiting fellowship in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) at Columbia University Medical Center and leads the inpatient ECT program at Montefiore Moses Hospital.
Dr. Gardner completed psychiatry residency at Montefiore Medical Center after graduating from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Prior to graduate training, she attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a bachelor of science in biochemistry and a bachelor of arts with a concentration in physics.
Dr. Gardner belongs to the Montefiore Psychiatry faculty private practive, now known as the Montefiore Einstein Psychiatry Associates (MEPA), through which she provides outpatient medication management and therapy for Einstein medical students, Montefiore residents and other Montefiore employees.
