Professional Interests

Dr. Hai Jung Helen Rhim is assistant professor of pediatrics and the Director of Educational Innovations at Einstein. She is also a pediatric hospitalist at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM). Dr. Rhim joined the Einstein faculty in 2008, serving as site leader for the pediatrics clerkship at St. Barnabas Hospital. In 2010, she moved to CHAM and has been involved in teaching across all four years of the Einstein curriculum, becoming co-director of the pediatrics clerkship in 2017. For a number of years, Dr. Rhim has been deeply involved in developing the pediatrics objective-structured clinical exercises and curricula on clinical reasoning, inter-professional teamwork, and medical error disclosure. In 2019, Dr. Rhim became the inaugural Director of Educational Innovations within the Office of Medical Education at Einstein. She now supports faculty in developing curricula that are learner-centered using active learning stategies and technology. She also has served as fellowship director in pediatric hospital medicine at CHAM since 2013. Dr. Rhim has received several Einstein grants for excellence in medical esducation and was inducted into the Leo M. Davidoff Society in 2014. The following year, she received the William Obrinsky Award for Excellence in Student Teaching from the department of pediatrics. In 2018, she was presented with the Harry H. Gordon Award for Outstanding Clinical Teaching at Einstein. Dr. Rhim is a graduate of Brown University and received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2002. She completed her residency training at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., in 2005, and obtained a master in public health with a focus in healthcare management from Columbia University in 2008. She currently is pursuing a master of health professions education at Maastricht University/New York University School of Medicine.
