Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

Overview

Psychiatry research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is fueled by a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration and supported by a robust research infrastructure including the Psychiatry Research Institute at Montefiore Einstein, the Harold and Muriel Block Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at Einstein and Montefiore, a wide range of Shared Scientific Facilities and Cores, and a community of devoted research mentors.

The scope of research activities oriented toward mental illness, addiction, and behavioral health extends from fundamental science to health services research. Our investigators share an overarching commitment to marshal every plausible and promising approach for addressing the profound disability, premature mortality, suffering and stigma associated with psychiatric conditions. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and collaborating departments are dedicated to creating new knowledge that advances the mental health and well-being of local and global communities and to nurturing the research careers of promising trainees and young investigators.
