Montefiore Einstein Interventional Cardiology

Overview
Full range of academic medical activity related to the diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening heart conditions, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, diabetes, and congestive heart failure.

Treatment Services
Approximately 5,000 diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and 2,000 cardiac interventions performed each year among 10 laboratories dedicated to adult cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology studies.

Treatment Facilities
Ten dedicated laboratories throughout Montefiore Medical Center, Weiler Hospital, and Jacobi Medical Center.

Montefiore Einstein full-time interventional cardiology faculty members.

Research
Investigations in thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI), nitric oxide for MI treatment during angioplasty, Periscope trial, bypass angioplasty revascularization investigation 2 diabetes (BARI 2D), effectiveness of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor use during primary coronary angioplasty, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) registry, racial and ethnic factors in response to treatment, vascular imaging technologies, emergency angioplasty, treatment devices, pharmacological treatment for MI.
