Hispanic Center of Excellence

Mission & Objectives

The Einstein Hispanic Center of Excellence (HCOE) provides leadership and training in research and education relating to Hispanic health issues, health disparities, cultural competency, and healthcare concerns.

Established in 2001 under a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and continually funded by the Louis and Rachel Rudin Foundation since 2006, the Center is an outgrowth of Einstein College of Medicine's longstanding commitment to under-represented minorities. Operating under the aegis of the Einstein Institute for Community and Collaborative Health, the Center is the first and only Hispanic Center of Excellence in New York State. The HCOE's initiatives reinforce Einstein's continued presence and participation in the Bronx community.

As a Hispanic Center of Excellence, Albert Einstein College of Medicine is one of a multi-state group of distinguished institutions that are recognized as leaders in serving the needs of the Hispanic community.  We are members of the Hispanic Serving Health Professions Schools and National Council for Diversity in the Health Professions.
