Center for Medical Countermeasures against Radiation

Overview

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine Center for Medical Countermeasures against Radiation (CMCR) is a multidisciplinary team consisting of two programs and five cores. Established with the mission of treating acute and chronic injuries resulting from radiation exposure primarily due to nuclear or terrorist attacks, the CMCR will facilitate basic, clinical and translation research.

Furthermore, the center will evaluate mechanisms of repair and evaluate potential therapies to treat these injuries, for instance in the intestine, bone marrow, as well as other organs.

To support the CMCR’s mission, our collaborators will include Oregon Health and Sciences University, SUNY Stony Brook and other academic institutions. The CMCR is funded by a grant from the National Institute of Health.
