- Grant Proposal Advisory Service
Einstein has an advisory service to support Einstein investigators in securing extramural funding. The service is meant to reinforce the quality of grant applications and in so doing make them more competitive. Types of support offered include:
- Face to face meetings to discuss overall strategies for applications.
- Defining the scope and optimizing the wording of specific aims.
- Improving content, organization and language of specific sections of the grant application.
- Improving content and clarity of figures and data presentation.
- Read-through with basic editing and point-by-point commentary to identify weaknesses and problems.
- Detailed editing and assistance with re-writing (especially for first-time applicants or investigators whose first language is not English)
This initiative primarily targets the efforts of individual faculty to secure NIH R-series funding. However, any competitive application will be considered. Please note that these services are not meant to turn rough drafts or fragmentary proposals into polished applications.
Dr. Tanya Dragic, formerly Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, will be leading this effort. Dr. Dragic has specific expertise in microbiology, microbial pathogenesis and immunology and broad familiarity with molecular and cellular biology, genetics and biochemistry. Throughout the course of her research career Dr. Dragic has been the recipient of NIH R01, R21 and SBIR grants, as well as several awards from private foundations. She was a reviewer on several NIAID study sections. Dr. Dragic will now work with Einstein investigators to generate high quality grant applications.
- Biostatistics Shared Resource (BSR)
Statistical support can be obtained from Einstein's BSR of theHarold and Muriel Block Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at Einstein and Montefiore by submitting a consultation request. In addition, a walk-in statistical consulting center is held on Tuesday afternoons from 3-5pm in Belfer 1303 on the Einstein Campus and on the first and third Thursday of every month, 2-4pm, 3411 Wayne Avenue Room 824, at Montefiore. The walk-in center can be used for quick advice about a statistical issue; however, in-depth consultations or long-term collaborations with a statistician need to be arranged separately with BSR.

- Spanish Translation Service
Einstein offers an English-to-Spanish translation service. Investigators without external
funding may request a fee reduction or waiver. The primary translator, Ms. Yovana
Coupey, received her translation certification from the NYU School of Professional and
Continuing Studies and also currently serves as Course Leader of the Medical Spanish
