Planned Giving

Synonymous With Brilliance, Genius - Einstein

Your Legacy to Albert Einstein It is now sixty years since Albert Einstein agreed to place his name on a new medical school that would become, within a mere generation, one of the most outstanding centers of medical learning and biomedical research in the world. It is a testimony to what absolute commitment, determination and dogged perseverance would achieve.

Now what? More of the same? That wouldn't do.

Society sixty years ago did not have any expectations for what the Albert Einstein College of Medicine would become. It does now, and those expectations are ambitious, exceeded only by the expectations we have for ourselves. We cannot claim our future by pointing to our past no matter how distinguished of a past it is.

Walking with Einstein

The Legacy Society of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine

In his later years, Albert Einstein very much enjoyed walking the tree-lined streets of Princeton, often accompanied by good friends and contemporaries. On these walks, Professor Einstein and his guest would discuss science, as well issues in education, religion, justice, art and of course, music. In 1953, this icon of the 20th century was encouraged to make a gift that would truly be priceless - the gift of his name to the first new medical school to rise in New York since the 1890s. It would not be surprising to learn that he considered this request carefully as he walked around the leafy neighborhoods of Princeton. Assured that this new experiment in medical education and research would be open to all - no matter race, creed or national origin - and would foster the virtues of compassion, humanity, and the highest ethical standards in medical practice and research, he formally agreed - and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine opened its door to 56 highly talented young men and women in 1955.

Now the College has created Walking with Einstein, a tribute to this extraordinary man and a way the College can honor those alumni, faculty and friends who are committed to the distinctive mission of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and in effect are continuing that walk begun so long ago by including the College in their estate plans.

These web pages offer you some insights regarding various ways you - Einstein alumni, faculty members, friends, parents - can help to ensure that the College's future will be a worthy successor to its achievement-filled past. Planned giving, or gift planning as it is called by some, provides avenues by which our dearest and closest supporters can create a gift to the College that is far larger than what they thought was possible. Some of these gift would come from your estate, others would provide you a wonderful tax deduction while bringing you a robust and enhanced stream of income.

The opportunities presented through planned giving are many, the cause - the distinct mission of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine - is most worthy.

These planned giving opportunities are outlined here for your information only. We are not offering legal or tax advice, and we both recommend and encourage you to seek out your own legal and financial advice from trusted counsel.
